Height, weight, BMI, body composition, and waist, arm and calf measurements.

Handgrip strength, blood pressure and other relevant vital signs.
Clinical context
Review of existing reports and malnutrition risk, interpreted with the person’s history and current care.
04 / Clinical photography
Relevant nail, hand, face, mouth, hair and skin findings may be photographed with consent for clinician review. Meal photographs and product-label photographs can also help the team understand everyday choices.
The purpose, proposed use and review of photographs should be explained before they are taken. Photographs are supporting information and are interpreted with the wider assessment.
05 / Additional integrative assessments
When appropriate
A relevant qualified practitioner may include pulse assessment within their professional assessment. It is not an automatic component for every person.
When appropriate
Heart rate variability recording may support assessment when appropriate. Its purpose and findings need qualified interpretation in context.
